Word of the Day

From the Depths of My Vocabulary I present--a word I have never used in conversation, nor previously in writing--yet there it was, lodged in my brain:

Foist v. 1. To introduce or insert surreptitiously or without warrant. 2. To force another to accept especially by stealth or deceit. 3. To pass off as genuine or worthy.

Torment (Desk Job)

Desk--screen,
keyboard and mouse.

Headache--pulsing,
right eye throbbing.

Tension--sore
neck and shoulders

Hands--numb fingers,
wrists on fire.

Mind--wandering;
sleepy and distracted.

Waiting--five o'clock,
weekend, retirement.

Life--wasted,
nothing accomplished.

World--rotting,
worst then ever.

Nonsense

A pack of wild, red-assed baboons,
howling and shrieking throughout the night

By dawn they are tired--worn out--
so they eat a light meal and retire to their beds.

Tomorrow night the baboon rampage will resume,
meanwhile, apparent-order has been renewed.
